Signal is a messaging app with privacy at its core. It is free and easy to use, with strong end-to-end encryption that keeps your communication completely private.
• Send texts, voice messages, photos, videos, GIFs, and files for free. Signal uses your phone’s data connection, so you avoid SMS and MMS fees.
• Call your friends with crystal-clear encrypted voice and video calls. Group calls supported for up to 50 people.
• Stay connected with group chats up to 1,000 people. Control who can post and manage group members with admin permission settings.
• Share image, text, and video Stories that disappear after 24 hours. Privacy settings keep you in charge of exactly who can see each Story.
• Signal is built for your privacy. We know nothing about you or who you’re talking to. Our open source Signal Protocol means that we can’t read your messages or listen to your calls. Neither can anyone else. No back doors, no data collection, no compromises.
• Signal is independent and not for profit; a different kind of tech from a different kind of organization. As a 501c3 nonprofit we are supported by your donations, not by advertisers or investors.

I switched from Whatsapp to Signal to text with my boyfriend and we absolutely love it, it takes less storage space, ain't introducing AI and free. But we've been experiencing some inconvenience about receiving each other's messages. We sometimes have to send 3 in a row so the other get it, or we have to start worrying about the time so open up the app to get informed that they replied 40 minutes ago !? We're both using different phones (Samsung). Please help us fix that 🙏

Not happy with calling and messaging. Most of the time, I have to try 4-5 times to make a call before it rings. The same applies to messages. I send one, and it shows as sent from me, but the receiver doesn't get it. Then, if I send another message, both show as received by the recipient. I have never experienced anything like this with WhatsApp or Messenger. Please fix these problems.

Ignoring known severe security issues: (1). App lock must be identical to device lock, adding no additional security. Like locking a vault with the same key as the front door. (2). Notifications contain message content by default. These are stored on device outside of application, non-encrypted. Accessible even if Signal is uninstalled. Ignored. (3) communication log can be set to auto delete after 1 day but call logs are retained meaning forensics can see if you talked and when. Bad practice.

What’s new
Now you can optionally register for Signal without a phone number. Phone-numberless registration requires a small one-time fee to help prevent spam, but this in-app purchase is never directly associated with the new Signal account. We sincerely appreciate your help beta testing this new feature!
